Military PCS Vehicle Shipping Nationwide

Shipping a POV on PCS orders

A permanent change of station puts a hard date on the calendar, and the vehicle usually has to move around it rather than with it. The practical difficulty is that report dates cluster, so demand around large installations concentrates into the same few weeks each year.

Booking as soon as orders are cut is the single most useful thing you can do. Lead time is what secures a pickup window that fits the move rather than one that leaves you without a vehicle at either end.

Government-funded POV shipment through the official programme is separate from commercial transport and has its own rules. Many service members ship a second vehicle commercially because only one is covered. Check what your orders authorise before arranging anything privately.

If this is your first vehicle shipment, how auto transport works walks through quoting, pickup windows and delivery.

What to check before booking

• Check your orders for what is already authorised before booking commercially
• Base access rules vary, so agree the collection point in advance
• Give dispatch a second contact if you may be unreachable during the move
