Car Shipping Services

Auto Transport Pros connects you with licensed, insured partners for ten types of vehicle transport: open carrier shipping, enclosed auto transport, door-to-door delivery, expedited pickup, and specialist moves for motorcycles, heavy vehicles, military PCS relocations, college students and snowbirds. Most vehicles travel on open trailers; the rest of this list covers when that is not the right answer.

Open or enclosed

Open trailers carry the large majority of vehicles moved in the United States. The car is exposed to weather and road spray in the same way it would be if you drove it. For a daily driver that is rarely a concern, and open transport is the cheaper option by a wide margin.

Enclosed trailers make sense when the vehicle is worth protecting from road debris: collector cars, low ground clearance, fresh paint, or anything where a stone chip is a real cost. Expect to pay noticeably more, and expect fewer trucks, which usually means booking further ahead.

What sets the price

  • Distance, and whether the route is a lane carriers already run.
  • Vehicle size and weight. A dually pickup takes the space of two sedans.
  • Whether it runs. A non-running vehicle needs a winch and a truck equipped for it.
  • Season. Snowbird routes tighten in autumn and spring.
  • How much flexibility you have on pickup dates.
