Shipping a car in Canandaigua

Canandaigua is a smaller Ontario County, New York community of roughly 10,476 residents. It is within a short drive of Geneva (15 mi), which a carrier can reasonably cover in one pass. Cost here follows the corridor a vehicle ultimately joins rather than the size of the town, so quotes are often closer to a metro rate than people expect.

Canandaigua works as a standalone pickup within reach of Geneva (15 mi), Rochester (25 mi) and Auburn (35 mi). A New York run through this area may take in Geneva on the same trip before heading out on I-87, I-90, and I-95. That is why pickup is quoted as a window of days rather than a set hour: the arrival time depends on the stops booked around yours.

Distances from Canandaigua to the larger markets around it: Albany, NY at about 215 road miles, Pittsburgh, PA at about 265 road miles and New York City, NY at about 270 road miles. Distance decides more of a long-distance rate than anything else, so those numbers are where a quote starts. Our published corridors of comparable length, 105 to 350 miles, quote $400 to $700 for a sedan on an open trailer, which is the frame for a quote from here rather than a price for it.

Elsewhere in Ontario County we also collect in Geneva. A booking that shares a truck with a neighbouring pickup is usually the cheaper option, so it is worth mentioning if you are moving more than one vehicle.

Before you book

Carrier checks and vehicle preparation are the same for a Canandaigua pickup as for any other, so they are covered once rather than on every city page. Before pickup, ask for the carrier's MC or USDOT number to look up on FMCSA SAFER and for its cargo insurance certificate. How to prepare your car for shipping covers the wash, fuel level and personal items, and the Bill of Lading guide explains the condition report you sign at both ends.
