Shipping a car in Preston

Preston is a small Franklin County, Idaho community of about 6,160 residents. The closest ID city we cover is Malad City, about 20 mi away, which is what makes a door pickup practical here. Where a full-size trailer cannot reach the address, we agree a meet point at the time of booking.

Preston works as a standalone pickup within reach of Malad City (20 mi), Montpelier (35 mi) and Pocatello (60 mi). A Idaho run through this area may take in Malad City on the same trip before heading out on I-84, I-15, and US-95. That is why pickup is quoted as a window of days rather than a set hour: the arrival time depends on the stops booked around yours.

Distances from Preston to the larger markets around it: Salt Lake City, UT at about 110 road miles, Boise, ID at about 290 road miles and Billings, MT at about 365 road miles. Distance decides more of a long-distance rate than anything else, so those numbers are where a quote starts. Our published corridors of comparable length, 105 to 260 miles, quote $400 to $600 for a sedan on an open trailer, which is the frame for a quote from here rather than a price for it.

Before you book

Carrier checks and vehicle preparation are the same for a Preston pickup as for any other, so they are covered once rather than on every city page. Before pickup, ask for the carrier's MC or USDOT number to look up on FMCSA SAFER and for its cargo insurance certificate. How to prepare your car for shipping covers the wash, fuel level and personal items, and the Bill of Lading guide explains the condition report you sign at both ends.
