Shipping a car in Cortez

Cortez is a small Montezuma County, Colorado community of about 9,151 residents. The closest CO city we cover is Durango, about 40 mi away, which is what makes a door pickup practical here. Where a full-size trailer cannot reach the address, we agree a meet point at the time of booking.

Cortez is comparatively isolated among the cities we cover. The nearest city we serve is Durango, roughly 40 mi away, and that gap is the single biggest factor in scheduling here. A pickup this far out is easier to place on a run already heading toward I-25, I-70, and I-76 than to arrange on its own, so expect a wider collection window and, on some loads, a meet point nearer the interstate. Lead time is worth more here than in most of Colorado.

Distances from Cortez to the larger markets around it: Albuquerque, NM at about 225 road miles, Colorado Springs, CO at about 280 road miles and Denver, CO at about 310 road miles. Distance decides more of a long-distance rate than anything else, so those numbers are where a quote starts. Our published corridors of comparable length, 105 to 375 miles, quote $400 to $700 for a sedan on an open trailer, which is the frame for a quote from here rather than a price for it.

Before you book

Carrier checks and vehicle preparation are the same for a Cortez pickup as for any other, so they are covered once rather than on every city page. Before pickup, ask for the carrier's MC or USDOT number to look up on FMCSA SAFER and for its cargo insurance certificate. How to prepare your car for shipping covers the wash, fuel level and personal items, and the Bill of Lading guide explains the condition report you sign at both ends.
